The Corporate Ready Bag

Prada BN2274 “Medium” Saffiano Lux Double Zip Executive Tote in Pomice (Light Grey)

I’ve been wanting this bag for years and finally I’ve made it!!! I always felt that one had to be at a certain career “level” to carry off this bag, and in the past, I’ve been too self-conscious to wear this handbag style to work and I’m not even speaking of the brand. Just the shape exudes a certain finesse, sophistication, and professionalism that I couldn’t pull off in the work environment before… until now! In a way, I think of this bag as a celebration for hard working, dedicated, and career-oriented women. It has a subtle logo that I can easily flip over to the inside facing me should I wish to be more discreet, or stride confidently with the logo facing outward – whatever your mood is – it is the perfect work bag!

Detailed pix of the top, bottom, and inside:

There are a total of 6 pockets or compartments:
– 2 large zipped compartments on both sides of the bag
– 1 Large zipper pocket on the inner side
– 1 Small leather patch pocket on the inner side
– 2 Smaller leather patch pockets on the outer side

The shoulder strap is adjustable and detachable. I personally don’t find myself using this that much for everyday, unless I’m carrying a ton of stuff and may need additional support to hold the bag and spare my hands. I think the shoulder strap is cuter on the mini version, but not really as a messenger bag for the medium size.

^I thought these “Bandaid” shortbread cookies were so cute, I gave them to a friend who tore his ACL, but shown here first with my Louis Vuitton French Purse as my Prada purchase has done some damage to my wallet!

Not intended, but one of the sales associates noticed that my OPI manicure that I just had done the day before matched perfectly with the bag! I tend to be indecisive, and always thought that I’d end up with the classic Black or Cornflower blue. So it was really unexpected for me to have purchased this grey as I’m quite fearful of getting light coloured bags dirty, especially because I’m usually somewhat careless and will put the bag on the floor for my workhorse bags. However, the light grey really caught my eyes amongst all the colours on display in the boutique. It’s really professional but chic too, without being that predictable like black, brown, navy, or other neutrals. The colour can look different under various lighting, but it’s got blue undertones and is much lighter compared to the other Argille colour. I believe this is also available paired with silver hardware, but I find that mutes the rest of the bag… whereas the gold hardware provides a really luxe contrast.

What’s inside her bag?
– Macbook Pro 13 Inch laptop (2014 version)
– LV Wapity pouch
– LV sunnies at all times
– LV French Purse wallet
– Keys
– Purell!!!
– And still lots of room to carry more paperwork in the zips and other stuff inside

For the longest time, I could not decide between the medium or large, which also put me off from purchasing the bag. It’s essential for me that as a work bag, my 13 inch Macbook Pro can fit in with ease. It’s really inconvenient for me to shop while carrying my laptop, so in the past I’ve always measured and estimated the fit. I knew that the medium would be a tight squeeze and I’d have to unsnap the sides, which I don’t mind. However, more recently my old Pro died on me and I had to purchase a new one which is much lighter and thinner in comparison. The new computer size helped me finalize my decision for going with the medium, which I’ve always preferred for my petite frame. I have noticed some inconsistencies with Prada‘s bag sizes, and this medium from this season is actually slightly larger, in both width and height, which I confirmed at the boutique! Ultimately the bag was a perfect compromise in between the medium and large sizes!!

Lastly, some quick mod pix that I snapped in the elevator:

Thanks for letting me share again, good night everyone! 😀

Xmas Reveals III – Jewelry and Accessories

1. Cartier – YAY! My Amulette necklace is back from the spa having grown an extra 2 inches! Here is me wearing it on the longest length (can also be worn shorter at its original 16 inches). Love the holiday card that they sent me too!

2. Gmond – Tiger Pendant in 24K Yellow Gold

3. Eddie Borgo – Large Pyramid Bracelet w/ Pavé Crystals & Rose Gold Plating
4. Eddie Borgo – Mini Matte Cone Bracelet with Rose Gold Plating

5. Case Mate – Karat Collection: 24K Gold Leaf Foil Phone Case
It’s so blinged lol, perfect for my gold iPhone 6, and I had to waitlist for it cuz it was totally sold out in September when the 6 was just released. I had to wait like 2 months for it to be delivered, but it’s well worth it!

6. Prada FW14 Nero Daino Belt (Pebbled Calfskin) – 1 1/2 inches
I’ve been searching for years for an affordable, classic, black belt without any logos and couldn’t believe that Holt Renfrew had it at a fab steal of $139 from retail $415. And it wasn’t even a week ago when it was still something like ~300$ on sale, but only offered in Navy. This was the only one available and fit me perfectly at a size 75, which I can wear low on the hip and higher up on my natural waist.

7.  Valentino FW14 “All Over” Rockstud Gloves in Black Calfskin and Silk Lining
Best for last!!! I’m just in love with these gloves! Yes they’re blinged out and look kinda dangerous, but so chic and comfy at the same time. I was once told that one’s glove size should match her shoe size, which is not necessarily true for everyone, but it’s a trick that I’ve picked up. When in doubt, always go for the SMALLER glove size because the type of leather used tends to be extremely soft and will stretch a lot over time. Whereas for shoes, the reverse is true, i.e. always go for the BIGGER shoes because they don’t stretch as much. So don’t break your feet in attempt to break in those too small shoes! 😀

Modeling Pix:
Having some fun here and doing my Valentino brand impression lol. Don’t you find that with every brand, a certain image or colour pops up? Valentino invokes a scarlet red outfit for me, just like their Shanghai collection from this season. There’s a mix of the rocker-chic girl from our contemporary era with plenty of jewelry and studs, but all the while there’s a softness and romantic idealism behind everything like in the good old classic days. The only thing missing? Some lace, but it was too darn cold outside to wear a dress!! I guess I could have added a lace top with long sleeves to peak through 😛

Bag – Céline
Watch – Rolex
Rings and necklace – Cartier

Holiday Reveals II – Prada Runners!

Prada FW13 Suede Wedge High Top Runners

I loved these the moment they came out but I knew they’d very likely go on sale as the more casual styles often do. I waited and waited and finally got them for about 50% off! The dark navy blue is really gorgeous, not as easy to get dirty, and goes well with my wardrobe. They’re also incredibly comfortable with a built-in wedge to give me some extra height. I foresee them becoming my new everyday favorites!!!

Amazing Find at NM Last Call!

Prada SS13 Classic “Basic” Black Patent Leather Pumps

I’ve wanted these shoes for a while now as they’re such a classic and never go on sale, but I’ve always had other priorities… Well on another one of my trips to the States, I was able to snag this beauty per chance when a good SA at my local NM Last Call had called me and brought me over to see their new shipment of goodies. I spotted these right away and I knew I had to have them. The size was also exactly mine too, so it was just meant to be! Usually the nice stuff are all not in my size as there are many tiny Asians out there… lol Retail – $650; LC price – $325!!! YAY! They’re so comfortable and perfect for fancier work days when I want to dress up a bit. Thanks for letting me share!

Prada Shoes 2010

Last season, Prada made some beautiful shoes that I couldn’t resist buying! The boots were all so sumptuously soft and the pumps were so cute with that large quirky bow! I couldn’t resist diverging from my love for Louboutins!

Prada FW10 Bow Pumps in Vernice Bicolor – Black/Amarena

– Purchased in 2011
– 3.5 inch heel version (also available in flats, kitten heel, and 4 inches)
– I actually bought these recently on sale while doing my residency interviews. I had packed my bags too light and had no shoes!!! What was a girl to do for the after party?!?!? With my 1 hr of freedom between a grueling 7:30 AM – 4 PM interview and the social event at 7 PM, I literally flew downtown to find a pair of suitable shoes that was both fun and conservative at the same time. Perfect solution = Prada’s Bow Pumps!
– WARNING: do NOT wear these shoes on patches of ice in Winter! Serious misfortunes shall happen if one falls down! I nearly did the splits in these new shoes, given that the sole is super lacquered!

Prada FW10 Motorcycle Short Boots in Black Deerskin

– Purchased in 2010
– Yeeehhhaww! lol ok I was told to never do that again in public lol, but these are my awesome “cowboy” boots! I know they’re not really cowboy style, but they were *meant* to be cuz I had wanted a pair of casual boots to tread in snow. I found these bad-boy motorcycle boots instead!!! Vroooom vroooom!
– Pix taken after I wore them a few times. They’re super comfy!

Prada FW10 Platform Boots in Black Calf Leather

– Purchased in 2010
– Super soft nappa leather. Good pair of winter boots, albeit too delicate for everyday wear imo.
