Another Hit with Balenciaga

I love Bal’s City bags for their practicality, but lately I have been ignoring mine in the closet. It was not until my SA recently sent me pix of their new stock that made me stop and stare at one particular bag:

Balenciaga Metal Edge City in Black Hamilton Leather

It may look a little blingy at first, but the gold hardware makes the details on the bag really *POP*. It’s been a real hit with a lot of customers, which is really making the City have a come back from its good old days.

Another interesting texture the company has introduced is the metallic hammered gold leather. I’m not so sure on this one because I usually prefer something more conservative. What are your thoughts?

“Mini” Reveals!!! – Shanghai Part I

This is part I of my trip to Shanghai where one of my objectives was to buy some Mini Bals which are not available in Canada. They’re absolutely adorable and ever since Bal had its recent promotion of a FREE Mini along with your purchase of a City, I couldn’t get the Minis out of my head. So on my first day in Shanghai, I went straight to the Balenciaga boutique and luckily they had a bunch of Minis for me to choose!

Balenciaga FW11 Mini First in Bleu Paon Lambskin:

This is a very cute accessory with a functional zipper on top to store a few coins or small bills. The front zipper however is fake and does not unzip fyi. The only thing that bothers me about this particular piece is that the leather is a bit dry… I will need to apply some leather lotion later…

Balenciaga FW12 Mini First in Rose Thulian Lambskin:

This is my favorite Mini! I love how bright the red is and it just POPS against any bag you put it on. If you look closely, the clasp here is different from the previous season which was smaller and more flimsy. Now it’s definitely more rigid and also probably less easy to unclasp on its own with less risk of losing it!

Balenciaga SS12 Porte iPhone in Bleu Indigo Lambskin with Mini RGH:

I originally wanted something pink or bright as a small phone accessory but they didn’t have any. So I had to go for the RGH to get something pink! Btw, the zipper is fake as you can see in the pix. I do wish that they’d add the option of a belt loop behind the cover, but I’ve searched far and wide and no designer company is doing that for their phone covers!!!

Lastly, a group shot of my “Mini” haul:

FREE Mini B-Bag Charm!!!

OMG!!! Balenciaga online is currently offering a FREE mini B-bag charm in various colors with any of their First or City handbags!

The bag charms are soooooo adorable! I’m so jealous as I just made a purchase with NM, then again, I guess I can’t complain since I will get a 600$ gift card in return. Nonetheless, even when I tried to PURCHASE the mini B-Bag charm to match my upcoming Lagon City, Balenciaga online will not accept international credit cards! I’m so bummed!!! Aaargghhhhh! I want a MINI CHARM!!!

If you live in the USA, don’t miss out and make your order now!

Balenciaga Revives My Love of Goatskin

Balenciaga LE FW11 – SS12 Hamilton Holiday Collection:
City in Ciment Goatskin and Mini-Giant G12 Gold Hardware

Well this is an overdue reveal, but I have to share my love for goat leather!
I guess from my reminiscent Louis Vuitton Suhali days… Unfortunately LV discontinued this amazing line for, what I think, are all the wrong reasons to increase profit while cutting down costs and quality…

Anyhow, one day over the holidays while I was still on this  Bal-HIGH from my recent acquisition of the Classic City in Argent Foncé, I came across Bal’s LE Hamilton collection which renewed my love of goatskin once again! The Hamilton collection is part of Bal’s annual Holiday collection which uses more luscious leathers for more special occasions. They are more limited and trans-seasonal, often labelled to be part of the end of the Fall/Winter season and incoming Spring/Summer collection. The goatskin used this time is very thick, pebbly, and simply scrumptious – Just the way I like it!!! I particularly like how the color looks white from afar, yet is really a light nutty grey which means for careless freaks like me, I can put it on the floor or drag it around to dirty restaurants without a worry!

There were a total of 4 colors produced in the Hamilton collection:
Bordeaux – A beautiful deep burgundy red with gold hardware
Ciment – Nutty Grey as seen in my pix, also only available with gold hardware
Glycine – A very pretty lavender purple with silver hardware
Gris Poivre – Light taupe-brown with silver hardware
Rose Bruyère – Soft pastel pink with silver hardware

All the gold hardware are 18K gold-plated, whereas the silver hardware are palladium-plated.
Styles of bags available in City, Work, Velo, and Envelope Clutch.

This is also the first time that Balenciaga has used this new Mini-Giant hardware, officially called “G12” because the studs measure 12 mm. As of 2012, G12 will be REPLACING the original Giant hardware, which the company now calls “G21”since the older studs measured 21 mm. They will still be made in goldsilver, and rose-gold colored brass. I was never a fan of the classic Giant hardware, so I’m loving the smaller studs as they are less bling-bling.

However, in comparison to LV’s Suhali line, I still think overall LV’s had superior quality. Maybe the leathers are similar, but the finishing touches and attention to detail is just on a different level with LV. Unfortunately, I find Bal’s hardware to be kinda cheap… Upon close inspection, the brass almost looks like plastic to me… On the other hand, Bal’s REGULAR hardware, made of nickel, is much more sturdier than the Giant hardwares. LV also had 2 kinds of brass, the cheaper kind that would easily chip and the nice shiny polished kind which I loved on the Suhali items.

Anyhow, less ranting and more pictures!!!

Last, but not least, modeling pictures!!! 😀

Haul Part II: My First Balenciaga Bag!!!

Sorry for taking such a long time to post up part 2 of my haul, but I got distracted with other things. Anyhow, this is my first Balenciaga!

Balenciaga FW11 Classic City in Argent foncé Lambskin Leather

I must admit that I was never really into B-bags and didn’t quite get the hype of them… UNTIL NOW! I know that Bal’s known for its colors and leather, but this bag was like nothing that I’ve ever seen before. From the moment I saw it, I loved the soft silver-blue sheen and the fact that it’s not so “in your face” metallic, even though it still belongs to the metallic family. Then there’s the bag itself: I was always a fan of Louis Vuitton‘s heavy bags, but that’s only because LV’s light weight ones always felt somewhat cheap to me. However, Balenciaga bags are light weight, easy to carry, molds to your body, and hugs your curves when worn over the shoulder! They simply stand in a class of their own with this casual flare of coolness. I think I understand the hype now! 😀

^I do wish that the lining was nicer. I’ve never been a fan of cotton, for the price we pay…

Now for some fun modeling pix!!! lol I think this bag in particular is so practical and wearable with any outfit that you can take it anywhere with you! From work, to shopping, to going out…etc! It’s definitely and quickly become one of my go-to bags for just about everything for wherever I wanna go!

Outfit 1 – Casual Attire (AKA my Jean-Paul Gaultier look lol)
Top – Guess sweater
Jeggings – H&M (very comfy faux suede material, I own 3 pairs in different colors lol)
Shoes – Christian Louboutin LE Ostrich Mad Marta 150
I was debating between wearing these shoes and my CL Circus 120 booties which would have been more comfy to wear, but I think the Mad Martas completed the outfit perfectly.

Outfit 2 – Bohemian Look
Top – H&M
Skirt – Guess (I love the way the skirt flows with the wind!!! The beading and embellishments are amazing!)
Shoes – Charlotte Olympia Black Suede Dolly 150

Outfit 3 – Professional/Work Attire
This dressy professional look is probably more “me” than any of those casual clothing that I wear above. When I go to work, I ALWAYS wear pantyhose or some form of tights, whether it’s nude, black, sheer, or opaque. Maybe I’m old-school (even though I’m very young lol), but I think my work requires being conservative and professional, even if pantyhose is not fashionable these days.
Top – Mango
Skirt – RW & Co
Shoes – Manolo Blahnik Blue Suede BB 105
