***My Little Mermaid Heels***

Christian Louboutin Lady Peep 150 in Mandarin Red Python Fairy Tale

My favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid and obviously my favorite character of all time is Ariel of all the Disney princesses. I loved the surreal underwater world, the magic, the romance, and the MUSIC was absolutely the best! In fact, I loved the movie so much that I continuously watched it over and over to a point where I started to dream about mermaids and for a while I was convinced that I wanted to be a mermaid too when I grew up! lol I guess my plan sidetracked… See, work always gets in the way of my ambitions! 😀 A few pix below that I found on the internet of some gorgeous artwork by amazingly talented people:

So when I saw these new shoes by CL in a new color-way called Python Fairy Tale, I was absolutely stunned by the craftsmanship! It immediately reminded me of Ariel‘s gorgeous red hair and fish scales! I love how the base of the shoe is blue-gray with the tips of the python scales flashing a bold coral red! And in some lighting, there is also a silverish-purple sheen!
I had originally seen the prototype stock pix, which was very dull, blahhhh, and not so exciting. I guess it would also depend on the dye job. Some shoes are more saturated with red, whereas others that I’ve seen are more blue-ish. Here is the original stock pic with the Simple 85 pump:

However, when the actual product came out, it just took my breath away. The Python Fairy Tale series is available in two colors: Mandarin Red and Menthe Green. The Menthe is also stunning, but in more of a Halloween way… It’s got a pretty cool “lizardy” effect, but I would have no idea as to what to wear with them, plus I think the Mandarin Red is more classic and would go with my wardrobe better. Again the dye job varies… Some shoes are more bright lime green, whereas others are more orangey-yellow.

Bags available in Mandarin Red:
Roxane Clutch (left) and Artemis Plumes (right).
The latter costs a whopping 8995$US!!! This is when I say what?! Why?!!? Where??!?!? HOW???!!!

Anyhow, here is my reveal of my new “Little Mermaid” shoes:

Modeling pix:

To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of Lady Peeps or any shoe of 150 height as a matter of fact. The pitch is very steep, but this is not what bothers me the most since I can handle a similar pitch as with my Pigalle Plato 140 or Lady Claude 120. The problem for me is that the platform is very thick and I can’t “feel” the ground as well as the lower heel height with the same pitch! My figure skating days was always about “feeling” the ice with the ball of your foot cuz that’s where your center of gravity relies upon the most! I guess this is another reason why I don’t like platforms that are more than 1 inch…

Outfit 1:
This is my Gladiator dress which is a one-shoulder style with black and silver studs and embellishments at the top. I’ve only worn it once cuz I think it looks kinda skanky… like I just came back home from clubbing or something. So I cropped out the top half! lol The color goes well with the shoes though! 🙂

Outfit 2:
Ok, this is more me – conservative in my short version of the Cheong Sam.

Outfit 3:
In my new Aminaka Wilmont SS11 embellished dress!!!

A Psychedelic Dream Dress

Aminaka Wilmont SS11 Pscyhe Collection:
Pearl-Beads-Sequins Embellished Silk Dress

Since NAP started carrying AW‘s RTW clothing, I began to take notice of the new designer duo’s work. I remember seeing this dress way back on NAP for 1045$ retail price and couldn’t justify making the purchase. Then one day while I was roaming the Outnet, guess what I saw? The same dress that had caught my eye a year ago for only 365$, plus I had a 20% discount code, making the overall price only 292$!!! That’s a 72% reduction!

When my dress arrived, it was just gorgeous! Beautifully embellished glass pearl beads decorating the shoulders on a floral-printed silk dress that was cleverly pleated at all the right places. Not only so, the silk is so soft and delicate on my skin, it’s so comfortable that you almost feel like you’re not wearing anything lol. Anyhow, here are the pictures:

As seen on Madonna (black bolero version) for her Superbowl halftime performance! She is also wearing Christian Louboutin Supra Fifre or Ronfifi Supra (I can’t really tell given the small pic, but my gut feeling is the former pair).

Making of My First Pie!!!

Martha Stewart’s Blueberry Slab Pie
AKA My Tectonic Strawberry-Blueberry Pie!

I came back on Sunday night after having my awesome dinner of 2 lobsters (yes TWO!), Szechuan green beans (Gan Bian Si Ji Dou), and “Chef’s Special Sauced Pork Chops” for only 72$ total in the end. I haven’t gone out for dinner for a while so I thought I’d treat myself for the holidays.

However, since all the stores were closed, I came home with a massive CRAVING for a cheesecake or pie!!! I had some frozen blueberries in my fridge that I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of until last night. I decided to look up some easy recipes for idiots in the kitchen like myself, and found Martha Stewart’s Blueberry Slab Pie! This was perfect! The official recipe can be found here: http://www.marthastewart.com/317688/blueberry-slab-pie

So I thought this entire thing will take 2 hours… Oye… was I wrong lol. I ended up eating my pie 6 hours later!!! This teaches me another lesson about cooking: do NOT cook myself!!! Buying a cake or pie would have been so much easier, but I guess I didn’t have an option last night. Anyhow, here’s my entire process of making the pie:

– Dough divided into 2 halves and refrigerated for about 2 hours

– Make the filling with frozen blueberries, here’s about 5 1/2 cups

– You will need a total of 8-9 cups of fruits, so I cut up 2 1/2 cups of fresh strawberries to add to the filling

– Melding the dough turned out to be the most difficult task… I realized that I don’t have a ROLLER!!! Omg… I had to do everything by hand which took forever. Then I realized I had lots of chopsticks around which sort of helped, although substandard to my usual preferences. This is the reason the top looks like tectonic slabs…

– Post-1 hour baking!!! Yayyy!!! My tectonic pie is done!!!
(Nonetheless, I still had to wait another 1 hour for it to cool down)

– Close-up:

– Ta dahhhhh!!! Served with my favorite Oikos Greek Yogurt in Vanilla!

Recipe Critique:

So I didn’t exactly follow the recipe… I only had Becel‘s low fat margarine which I used instead of butter. I don’t know if this made the difference, but the dough was harder than I expected, but still edible. I think I would have needed to use another cup to make the dough more buttery soft. The filling was FABULOUS!!! I also skipped the lemon juice because I don’t like my desserts sour. Lastly instead of cornstarch, I used green bean starch which I had asked my mom prior to taking on the cooking task and she had said they’re interchangeable. Overall, great easy recipe and I would give it 8.5/10 (half point for the dough and one point deducted for the 6 hours of waiting!!!)
