Xmas Reveals V – Clothing Haul

Drum roll please for the perfect all occasion dress…

1. Roland Mouret – FW14 “Timarcha” Dress in Viscose and Silk

For every major event, I wear Roland Mouret. The man is a genius and his dresses are divine. However, sometimes I wish that I can wear his dresses for more casual days, or perhaps to work, and then transition into a night dress for a date or even for going out with friends? I hate having to go home and then change or pack along with me a separate outfit. So when I saw this dress on NAP, it was pure love! I can see it being worn for all occasions and because I’m quite boring and conservative, black and white are my favourite colour combo!

Acquiring this beautiful piece was not so easy though when I was only willing to pay at 50% discount or more… and even so it’s still my most expensive RM dress of the half dozen or so that I own. I had to locate a private shopper through PS Dept, that’s affiliated with NAP, to get access to the VIP shopping event which offers their clients pre-sales and basically first dibs on everything at 50% off. You gotta think and act fast cuz good things get scooped up in the blink of an eye. Then I had to figure out shipping since I no longer live close to the States. It was a nightmare, but everything worked out well in the end!

For reference, shoes by Gianvito Rossi.

Coleen Rooneys, with her beautifully swept up hair, steps out in Christian Louboutin‘s Lady Peep heels (and clutch?).

Taylor Schillings has an interesting royal purple version without the colour-blocking effect. She also has the dress shortened by at least 3 inches, which is quite obvious from how low sitting the back zipper sits. I’m not sure how the bright colours in her attire -purple and red – work out though as they seem to compete with each other…?

2. Rag & Bone – FW14 Skinny Leggings Coated Jeans
I actually bought the last pair on sale at Holt Renfrew recently. I typically wear 26 in R&B, but was gladly surprised that the 25 fit me as well since I lost a few pounds. No mod pix yet, but here are some from SSENSE which also offers this pair of jeans currently on sale at a great price.

3. Helmut Lang – FW14 Villous Sweatshirt
Love this piece, it’s so soft, warm, and looks great with the asymmetric cut. Can be worn open, zipped up, or with the lapel flipped up (hooks onto the right neck area) for a “scarf” look.

4. FW14’s Fashion Sports’ Bras
Given how recent seasons have incorporated so much mesh and see-through fabrics, it seems to be a trend to show off one’s undergarments. I’ve always liked Helmut Lang‘s bras but never really had the confidence to rock one like this:

However, the one below actually has more coverage and I couldn’t resist buying another one from T by Alexander Wang at a steal – 70% off! I would have preferred if they had in-built cups for more support and discretion…

A. Helmut Lang – FW14 Split-Strap Micro Modal Bra
Super soft and comfy. I love the asymmetric split strap!! It’ll be perfect with my see through Lululemon mesh T-shirt!!

B. T by Alexander Wang – FW14 High Density Lux Sports Bra
I took the wrong advice and got Small which is slightly too big on me. Ugh… It was final sale so I can’t exchange or return it. I hope after a wash and spin in the dryer at super high heat can shrink it. Or else I’ll have no choice but to wear it as a fashion piece only, instead of a real sports bra, which I was originally planning to do.

Thanks for letting me share all my Christmas and sale goodies! I hope you all acquired some lovely gifts and don’t forget to always give back to your friends and family for their generosity. Take care everyone and see you all in the New Year!

Xmas Reveals IV – More Shoes!!!

1. Valentino FW14 Rockstud Booties in Pebbled Calfskin
I actually purchased the smooth calfskin version initially, but then these went on sale in Europe and I was able to snatch them up in my size. I’m a real boots gal and I can just live in them cuz they’re so comfy! Do be careful and check some studs that aren’t secured on tight, which was another reason why I returned the previous pair. Fit: Runs large to size.

Quick shot of me going out in them the first time, wearing Helmut Lang sweatshirt, Hudson jeans, and Céline Phantom.

Other versions of these Rockstud booties from the FW14 collection. For SS15, they will also be offered in an olive green colour (last pic) and be part of the “Noir” collection with black outsoles and studs.Valentino_FW14Booties

2. Manolo Blahnik FW14 BB 105mm in Patent Tortoise Leather
I’ve always wanted to try the round toe BBs, and loved this classic pair from a few years ago. Finally they went on sale at Saks and I purchased them immediately. They can be worn for many seasons and is a great pair for work. They run big though for my usual size, so I’ll have to pad them a little…

3. Salvatore Ferragamo FW14 Varina in Black Suede and Gold Metallic Cap Toe
These are so cute and I got them during the sales too. My only fear is that they’re quite delicate with the suede which will show wear and tear quickly, and I hope I won’t scratch up the shiny metal too fast cuz I tend to wear my shoes pretty hard. Or I can be really clumsy too and kick into things lol…

4. Salvatore Ferragamo FW14 Varina in Plume Crackled Lambskin
I like this pair cuz of the cool crackled finish and how soft the lambskin is, which is a different material than most SF’s standard calfskin used in their Varina flats. However what threw me off was the mix of silver and gold on the buckle… I guess the reason SF did not go with silver buckles is because it might blend in too much with the rest of the body? Gold does add more contrast I suppose? Oh well, I’m still keeping them 😀

Xmas Reveals III – Jewelry and Accessories

1. Cartier – YAY! My Amulette necklace is back from the spa having grown an extra 2 inches! Here is me wearing it on the longest length (can also be worn shorter at its original 16 inches). Love the holiday card that they sent me too!

2. Gmond – Tiger Pendant in 24K Yellow Gold

3. Eddie Borgo – Large Pyramid Bracelet w/ Pavé Crystals & Rose Gold Plating
4. Eddie Borgo – Mini Matte Cone Bracelet with Rose Gold Plating

5. Case Mate – Karat Collection: 24K Gold Leaf Foil Phone Case
It’s so blinged lol, perfect for my gold iPhone 6, and I had to waitlist for it cuz it was totally sold out in September when the 6 was just released. I had to wait like 2 months for it to be delivered, but it’s well worth it!

6. Prada FW14 Nero Daino Belt (Pebbled Calfskin) – 1 1/2 inches
I’ve been searching for years for an affordable, classic, black belt without any logos and couldn’t believe that Holt Renfrew had it at a fab steal of $139 from retail $415. And it wasn’t even a week ago when it was still something like ~300$ on sale, but only offered in Navy. This was the only one available and fit me perfectly at a size 75, which I can wear low on the hip and higher up on my natural waist.

7.  Valentino FW14 “All Over” Rockstud Gloves in Black Calfskin and Silk Lining
Best for last!!! I’m just in love with these gloves! Yes they’re blinged out and look kinda dangerous, but so chic and comfy at the same time. I was once told that one’s glove size should match her shoe size, which is not necessarily true for everyone, but it’s a trick that I’ve picked up. When in doubt, always go for the SMALLER glove size because the type of leather used tends to be extremely soft and will stretch a lot over time. Whereas for shoes, the reverse is true, i.e. always go for the BIGGER shoes because they don’t stretch as much. So don’t break your feet in attempt to break in those too small shoes! 😀

Modeling Pix:
Having some fun here and doing my Valentino brand impression lol. Don’t you find that with every brand, a certain image or colour pops up? Valentino invokes a scarlet red outfit for me, just like their Shanghai collection from this season. There’s a mix of the rocker-chic girl from our contemporary era with plenty of jewelry and studs, but all the while there’s a softness and romantic idealism behind everything like in the good old classic days. The only thing missing? Some lace, but it was too darn cold outside to wear a dress!! I guess I could have added a lace top with long sleeves to peak through 😛

Outfit Reference:
Coat – Burberry
Bag – Céline
Watch – Rolex
Rings and necklace – Cartier

Nail polish – Christian Louboutin

Xmas Reveals II – Cosmetics + Dessert!

Xmas time is always the best time to stock up on goodies which often come in limited editions and value packs to save a few bucks. Hope you enjoy the pix!

1. Laura Mercier – Luxe Quartet in Tarte au Citron
2. Laura Mercier – 6 Mini Soufflé Body Creams
3. Laura Mercier – Hand Cream Quartet

4. Jo Malone – Peony & Blush Suede Gift Pack
I actually gave this to my mom later. She loves peonys and it was the first time that I saw any fragrance company use it.

5. Bobbi Brown – Mini Cream Eyeshadow Sticks Trio
Update: Would not recommend buying this or the full size version. The product has no lasting power and creases like crazy! TBA = To Be Avoided!

6. Clé de Peau – Beauté Céleste Lip Gloss Trio
Beautiful colours that compliment many skintones. Great value given how expensive each costs individually.

7. Godiva chocolates!!! One can never say no to their savoury truffles 😀

8. Lemon cookies that I made for our Christmas cookie exchange! Apparently I won the best cookies of the group lol! They contain no sugar (other than in the icing), and I also used light butter for a total of 60 calories each.

9. Assorted macarons for some delightful afternoon tea time and my cat seems to love them too!

10. Stuffed mushrooms for the holidays!!! I made 2 dozens of these and brought them to our work party. I pre-cooked the meat (not shown) beforehand to save some time and you can use anything from ground pork, beef, or turkey. Some people like sausages and bacon, but I used pork cuz it has less calories. Add whatever veggies to your liking and sauté everything, don’t forget that the stems of the mushrooms can be used too, so don’t wast them! 😀

Christmas Wishes To Everyone

It’s soon to be Christmas and I’m sure you’re all gathered home around your families in bright spirits with a dinner feast, but I wanted to wish everyone a quick holiday greetings! Merry Christmas to you all and may this season be filled with laughter, joy, and cherishing the wonderful times that we all get to be with our loved ones. Moments of happiness may not be with every person, but I do hope that you can perhaps remember the memories of your loved one from past times. All the best, stay safe and warm tonight! 😀
