Feeling Drab in the Winter?

Don’t let the Winter Blues dull your outfit! Even if the days are shorter and the weather is freezing, I grew up in Montreal (honestly the most fashionable Canadian city in my opinion) where -20C does not stop us gals from going out bare-legged in sky high heels. Of course, a warm coat is necessary but nothing too puffy please. It’s still gotta have style and shape. I may cuddle up in some comfy sweats at home, but there’s no excuse in not trying to dress well when going out. You want to look like you’ve tried (ie. not rolled out of bed and you put on an old sweatshirt), but not so much that everything’s over the top, just a “pulled together” look.
*Tip: Always wear a belt if you want to complete any look, even if you’re wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Sometimes we’re on the run and have no time to plan our outfit, but trust me a nice belt will definitely up your game. I learned this from the men!!

In today’s outfit, I’m adding some summery elements and bright colours to an all black outfit, as well as borrowing from my work-out clothing that I often wear to the gym. You have the see-through top to emphasize the “lightness” amongst the darkness lol, and of course the hot pink bra underneath is a subdued statement piece on its own. And to keep things simple, I’m not wearing much makeup, just a bright coloured lipstick to match the bra and shoes.

You may have noticed that my CL heels modelled above are different than those in my reveal pictures here. The reason is because I first ordered a pair in one size, which is larger, but then my usual size became available. So then I returned the first pair for which the pix were taken already, but now I’m modelling with the 2nd true fitting pair. However, I actually prefer the pattern on the first pair… My shopping life can be very complicated lol.

Anyhow, I’m ready to head out and tread through any extreme weather – just need to grab my Mackage coat! Have a safe and warm weekend for everyone in the east coast!

When Trio V Meets Trio I…

Céline SS15 Large Trio Indigo Lambskin

The Trio is a very well designed cross body bag that looks compact, but can carry a ton of stuff the same amount as I would typically throw into any bag. This includes my usual wallet, keys, cell, pager, badges, pens, compact powder, lipgloss, and a bunch of random papers for work (sometimes my glasses too). My trusty Vermillion Trio was the perfect bag for me in hospital running around everywhere before I had my own office. Now it’s retired with wrinkles, scars, and other damage done to its delicate lambskin, I wanted to reward her years of hard work with a new companion – Meet Trio Indigo!

Will they like each other? Or quarrel to their death? They do have their differences in that Trio I likes to shine in the spot light more, always wanting to be the centre of attention, whereas Trio V is more shy often staying in the background, although no one can deny her beauty even amongst a rack of other Trios…

Dun Dun Dun Duuunnnnn!
I think they like each other as I found Trio V to be embraced by Trio I, and now they’re INSEPARABLE!!!
However, they still maintain some of their own differences in that Trio I is a righty (zipper opens to the right) versus Trio V is a lefty (zipper opens to the left), and the zipper tabs are slightly different too. Overall they don’t mind each other and now live happily ever after…

The End. Thanks for letting me share!

First Pair of CL to Kick Off SS15

Christian Louboutin SS15 So Kate 120 in Multi Tie Dyed Patent Leather

I soo sooo soooooo very much love the So Kates and I think I lost count how many pairs I have now lol. Nonetheless, please welcome my most recent addition, which I almost skipped out on because at first I was like… meh… too many colors, don’t know how to wear them. Of course, later when I really wanted them they were sold out everywhere in my size. Then to my surprise, I found a pair and the rest was history. I love how bright and summery they make me feel, and it’s about time that I catch up on the neon yellow/green trend, which is only on the front vamp, making them much easier to wear than full neon bodied shoes.

So what exactly made me change my mind about purchasing these shoes? This girl – Blissmemories!!! I found her on Wheretoget.it which is an online website with different users helping each other for their shopping needs. Her entire look is amazing, difficult to pull together, but she did it! I love the mix of neutrals and the pop of colors on her sunnies, sweatshirt, and of course CL heels (which is btw the same pattern but in a different style called Pigalle Follies 100). Then there’s the mix of different textures: (faux?) fur jacket, smooth leather and suede on her Celine Trapeze, kinda unexpected boyfriend jeans, that beautiful wavy hair… And did I mention her smile? I like that slight quirky personality shining through which just completes her look! I don’t think I can do a better modelling pic than her, so let’s just admire how simply perfect this blogger looks!

Chanel Les Beiges + Allure Gloss

Finally this weekend I got a chance to relax a bit after a week of chaos at work. My Guerlain Lingerie de Peau BB Cream is about to run out. It’s a fabulous light foundation in my opinion but these days with the harsh dry winter, my skin seems to be parched more than usual despite all the hydrating masks and night creams. At times, I have trouble putting on any liquid type of foundation because the dry patches just become more accentuated turning into a flakey mess. So I really wanted to buy something that’s extremely light and easy to apply. I suddenly remembered that Chanel has their Les Beiges Fluide which I tried on once last year but felt to be too “dewy” in the summer. I decided to give it another shot now that my skin really dry and may need the extra moisture.

Chanel Les Beiges All-In-One Healthy Glow Fluid SPF 15 in N.10

I like this for how sheer it is, and as you can see on my inner wrist, it practically disappears. I used my middle finger to blend and compared to my index finger which does not have any product on, both have about the same amount of lines. So it does not accentuate any wrinkles, creases, or flakes. Sorry my hands are so dry… and in the third picture below, I used Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Color Powder (with an all over sweep over the 3 shades) to set.

– Very natural finish
– Easy to apply (fool proof and is a great beginner product for those who are just entering into the world of foundations)
– Sheer
– Hydrating
– Does not accentuate fine lines or flakes
– SPF 15

– May not be the best if you’re looking for something with more coverage
– Quite heavily scented. This does not bother me, but not recommended if you’re allergic/sensitive to fragrances.
– Limited color selection, but given how sheer the product is, I don’t think you really need 20 shades…

Comparisons to Chanel’s CC Cream and Guerlain’s Meteorite Baby Glow

Chanel’s CC cream was way too thick and heavy for my liking. It does have more pigmentation for those who are looking for a more medium-full coverage.
On the other hand, Guerlain’s new Meteorites Baby Glow has been on my radar for the last few months as it was previously an Asian-market exclusive. I was pretty excited to check it out at the Guerlain counter in person since it’s kinda hard to locate, but I felt like I was let-down… The product is very sheer but even more so than Chanel’s Les Beiges. I feel like you need to have near perfect skin to be able to wear it, otherwise I do need some coverage to hide my acne scars. I was also afraid that it would be sparkly, but luckily it’s not. There’s a faint glow at certain angles, but relatively safe to wear for everyday. Overall verdict? Meh… Not as impressed as their BB cream, which I still love and will always be a staple.

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss – One Click – in Sensible (15)

The Allure Gloss debuted Fall 2014, with new colors added to the line for their Spring/Summer collection. It’s an update from their earlier Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss from 2010, which featured a traditional twist-open tube. The new Allure Gloss has a fancier “One Click” top where the tube is basically using a spring mechanism to open. I like the idea of a highly pigmented gloss and a little surprised to find that even when the colors look very rich when applied on my hand, it still goes on quite sheer on my lips. I think they’re very wearable, especially the 15 which is the lightest color of the summer collection. How long does it last? Hmm… about 3-4 hours with eating in between which is pretty long for me. At first it’s a little sticky upon application, which I dislike because I find as the day carries on, most glosses become even thicker. However, I kinda liked it more at the 2-3 hour mark where it felt more soothing and hydrating. I’m still undecided about the texture, but overall I like the packaging and I like the colors!

Below I’m wearing Essie’s nail polish in Eternal Optimist (676). The top half of the last pic shows me wearing Rouge Allure Gloss 15 in my bathroom lighting, and bottom half in natural daylight. On my face, I have Les Beiges Fluide and Powder. Thanks for letting me share! Happy Sunday 😀
