The Perfect Black Pumps

Manolo Blahnik SS13 “BB” 105 in Patent Black Titanium Calfskin

Woohoo! I finally got a pair of black BBs but with a spin on the classic black patent!  I was hesitant on getting them at first cuz NM online said they’re specchio which is usually like a delicate metallic sheen/coating that easily scratches, but I pre-ordered them anyhow cuz Saks swore that they’re patent. Anyhow, now that they’ve arrived, they’re truly PATENT leather – even on the box it says so!!! I can see myself wearing these to death and I don’t want to have to worry too much about keeping them clean. The Black Titanium is more gray than black to be honest. There’s also tiny flecks of metallic shimmer, not glitter mind you, and they remind me of Christian Louboutin‘s Black Grease Paint which was gorgeous back in CL’s more classy days…

Anyhoo, these shoes are just PERFECT for me: my fav shoe style + comfy height of 105 mm + I think they’ll look great with just about any outfit!

Btw, sorry for the nasty indoor pix… it was snowing really hard yesterday, so I couldn’t take pix outside under natural lighting. The last closeup pic is a true representation of the shoe color imo.

Lastly a look at my Manolo Blahnik “BB” collection:

The BB’s heel can be a little erratic… The older styles had a “curved square” heel as you can see on my Satin Lace BBs on the right. Then over the years, this has evolved to a “straight square” heel for most styles as can be seen on my Black Titanium BBs on the left. However, once in a while, you can also get a “rounded” heel with my Flesh BBs in the middle.
Which one is my favorite? Hmm… it’s really hard to say, but I think the newer straight heels look more modern. The rounded heels are more feminine. However the curved square heel is ever so classy as well. I love them all!!!

  1. You really have a nice manolo collection!!

And I’m am jealous of your titanium manolo’s!!
and also love you pink one’s…

I tried to order the titanium ones at neiman but the site didn’t work,
When I tried again 2 days later they were no longer available!! :'(

If anayone knows where I can still get them…. let me know!

  2. Thank you Bettine, you are too kind!
They are still available at Neimans and Saks. You just need to do some hunting which can be tedious during holiday season. Since it’s a classic color, I do think that they will restock because the Black Titanium color originally came out SS13, it was again repeated in FW13. I would also try Manolo’s flagship store in New York and make a request. If all else fails, you can always do a custom order! Best of luck, and happy holidays! 😀

  3. Hi, I’m surprised that you look very comfortable with the Manolo’s BB at 105mm!
I just got mine today and tried to walk around the house. They feel too tight on my toes and are painful! I have to admit that I am not used to wearing 105mm, my first pump is a pair of Vince Camuto at 3inches and they were fine to walk around for an hour. Could you please let me know if this painful sensation is normal? Will I eventually get used to this type of shoes if I wear them often? Otherwise I will have to return them asap. Thank you so much for your help. Your collection is amazing!

  4. Hi Cris,
I’m sorry for your experience with the BB heels. They are beautiful but may not suit everyone’s feet. For me, I find them very comfortable and have numerous pairs in my collection for this reason. Relative to other designer heels of similar styles, I know people find MB to be generally the most forgiving too. We are experienced heel wearers though and I’ve been wearing at least 3 inch heels since I was 13 (plus years of figure skating probably helped my balance). The pain probably won’t go away, but practice will certainly help. Another trick is to try adding a cushion (gel) pad to the ball of your feet, but it sounds like you don’t have much room in the toe box… In the future you may want to try buying a half size larger and add a pad. Best of luck!
