My Favorite Shops

I haven’t bought anything from a Canadian boutique in a long time… Usually the selection is poor, customer service is not great, and the prices are not nearly comparable to other countries. So most of the time these days, I order things online, or make a phone call straight to the US and European boutiques. Even with the taxes, customs, and shipping fees, I still save a lot.

Here are some of my favourite places to shop:

– Luisa Via Roma
– Farfetch
– Christian Louboutin Online
– Neiman Marcus
– Saks 5th Avenue
– Net-a-Porter
– Moda Operandi
– Matches Fashion

– Major US stores: Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Barney’s New York, Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstrom

– S/SENSE in Montreal

– Les Cahiers d’exercices in Montreal

– Rosenstein Paris in Montreal

– Louis Vuitton Montreal in Ogilvy Montreal

– Les Cours de Montréal has various local designers

– Nordstrom in Ottawa and Calgary

– Holt Renfrew across Canada

– Christian Louboutin South Coast Plaza in California

  1. Hi Celia,

I agree, shopping in-store is rather tedious, the selection online is much better. BySymphony andy MyTheresa are also a great source for shoes and clothing in general. Of the online merchants you’ve listed, Neimans offers some of the best pricing with their daily dashes and LastCall. Yoox is another great place though of late it seems as if their pricing isn’t fair. I’m guessing this is the result of this past year’s acquisition.

One of the best times to buy is at the end of July and beginning of August. I use to attend a conference in Vegas during that time. I’d shop the boutiques at Caesars. Much of the merchandise is more than 50% off. The win comes in by shopping with merchants who price match in the event the boutique doesn’t have your size. Nordstrom price matches and will beat by 5%.
